Hi Hannah.
You have been a very enthusiastic member of our science talent development this term. Your confidence has grown in terms of your participation in our group discussion. This has been great to see. You are thinking more carefully about "why" certain reactions happen and this is helping you to form more detailed conclusions. Keep up the great effort Hannah.
Katie.

Canstruction
In term 3 Enrich entered in the Canstruction competition. The Tuesday group did a kiwi, the wednesday group did a hamburger and the thursday group did a rugby ball. I was in the teusday group. Our groups design team was Charlie, Brooke, Nick, Hannah M and myself. First we painted a board green, brown and black (the board had holes in it in the shape of the kiwi). Then we tied the Makarel Fish Oil cans onto the board in the shape of the kiwi. The canstructions are displayed at the Invercargill museum. The kiwi is displayed in the Victorian part of the museum, the hamburger is beside the mini movie theatre and the rugby ball is at the entrance. After the displays are finished at the museum they get donated to the food bank.

Hi Hannah,
You have had a very productive start to the term, go you! I have been impressed with your time management. I've heard great things about your creativity while working with Kevin in the Canstruction design team. I can't wait to see how you all get on with figuring out how you are going to build the structure!

Henry Tuatara
For my "Picks" I chose to do "Where in the World is Henry Tuatara?"
Here is my keynote
Talent development term 2
For our talent develpoment this term we are doing documentaries. We are doing them about Southland. I am in a group. In my group is Cheana Hannah.f and me. We are doing our documentary about animal life in Southland. We are contacting: D.O.C, Queens park Wildlife Park, Enviorment Southland and the Museum. We are also contacting CUE TV and Southlland Times for interveiwing tips. We are going on a feild trip to The Queens Park Wildlife Park to look at the animals there.
Here is the questions that we are going to ask the CUE TV people:
1. How do you speak in a interveiw?
2. How do you know what questions to ask?
3.How many questions do you ask?
4.How does the reporter stay calm and relaxed?

Teacher comment
Hannah you have learnt a lot about yourself as a gifted individual so far this year! You have tackled the challenges you have faced, with a positive attitude, and have worked your way through these admirably. It has been great to see you develop friendships with other students of a variety of ages. Your choice of science for talent development showed a real area of interest for you, and through this project you have developed time management skills in balancing your must dos cans dos, well done Hannah.

Perfectionism Task
Today we did a perfectionism task. We had 5 minutes to practice a small play of Little Red Riding Hood in groups of 3. Pyper and Olivia were in my group. I was the Wolf, Pyper was the Grandma and Olivia was Little Red Riding Hood. The purpose of this activity is to teach us that not everything has to be perfect and that some things are done just so you can have fun.

Contacting a Expert
For our science talent develpment we had to contact an expert. I am studying horses so I contacted the North Island D.O.C to ask about N.Z Kaimanawa horses.
Here are my questions........
1.How have the Kaimanawa herds adapted to live in the wild ?
2.What adaptations do Kaimanawa horses have that make them different to other horses?
3.Why are Kaimanawa horses special to N.Z?
4.Were did they origanly come from?
5 What impacts do they have on the environment?
6What diseases and parasites do they suffer from?

Chess
At the start of the year I knew nothing about chess but now I know were the pieces move, where they sit on the board and also what chess teaches you. Chess teaches you; new strategies, maths, to win and lose, it is also part a part of mental edge.
This is a photo of were the pieces sit on the board.
This is the order that the chess pieces go in; Rook, Knight, Bishop, Queen and last but not least The King. The pawns are lined up in front of all the pieces in a straight line. The aim of the game is to knock over the other opponents King. The other side is in the same order except it is the King then the Queen. The King can move in all directions but only one space at a time. The Queen is the same but she can move seven. The bishop can move diagonal seven spaces. The knight moves in a kind of complicated way, this is how; it moves two or one squares diagonally and then one square across. The Rook can move sideways, up and down seven squares. Last but not least the pawn, the pawn can move forward two spaces but only on its first go, also it can move diagonal one square but only to attack.
Interactions
This term at Enrich everyone went on a Interactions field trip. We had about 3 or 4 parents. ( which included my Mum.) We went for a walk around town, down to the estuary and to a child care centre. We went so we could learn about interactions and the different places we could find them.
Here are some photos we took on the trip to show some of the interactions we saw.

Multiple Intelligences
This is multiple intelligences. It tells you what your strengths are and what you are not so strong at.
I am VERY strong at doing things with nature. I am not so strong with things like writing, music and logical stuff. There are different things on the multiple intelligences wheel like nature smart, logical smart, musical smart, myself smart and people smart. Each different "smart" has a different colour eg: nature smart is Purple and musical smart is Blue.

Today 22nd March 2011
Today I have done a lot of things like; Comic life, M.I (multiple intelligences), P4C (Philosophy for Children), Chess and blogging.
Comic life was a workshop where we learned how to make a comic. We changed the background, added pictures and added speech bubbles. Comic life is good for making slideshows and displaying learning.
My chess learning was finding out where the pieces could move to on the board.
Multiple Intelligences is finding out our strengths and weaknesses in our learning. In blogging we learned how to change backgrounds and add posts to our blogs.
I had a good day. I especially enjoyed the comic life and blogging.
